5th December each year is World Soil Day and Fife Council should align its strategy to its aims, the number 1 priority being to restore carbon into the soil I.e. create carbon sinks on all suitable land the Council own or has an influence on. Grasslands is a start but their are many others such as Council owned allotments whereby encouraging the use use of organic methods, soil carbon can be built up. Guidance can be gained from organisations like the Sustainable Soil Alliance, Community Land Scotland, and The Soil Association.
